Mission Statement

To help ensure community resiliency by recruiting and training local volunteers to supplement public health emergencies and medical response during disasters in Dallas County.

Medical & Public Health Support Activities

The Dallas County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) provides supplemental support to a variety of local public health initiatives such as school, civic, and faith-based sponsored health fairs, back-up support of immunization clinics and vaccination campaigns, epidemiology staff support during disease outbreaks, and community-wide public health education campaigns.

Community Partnerships

The Dallas County MRC actively seeks new partnerships among local emergency response agencies and the medical and mental health communities. In addition, MRC functions cooperatively with three contiguous county MRC units (Tarrant, Denton, and Collin) with plans that facilitate sharing of volunteers during emergency deployments.

Fundamentals of Preparedness

This community outreach program sponsored by the Dallas County MRC emphasizes the importance of being prepared for catastrophic local disasters or other public health emergencies. The program’s sixteen fundamental steps to preparedness, along with various hazard descriptions and helpful hints, can be found online: Fundamentals of Preparedness.
